Terms of service

Holden Appliance Repair, LLC (d/b/a Holden’s Appliance)

Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”) carefully. By scheduling service, approving an estimate, purchasing an appliance, or entering into any service agreement with Holden Appliance Repair, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “the Company”), you agree to be bound by these Terms.

These Terms apply to all residential customers within our 30‑mile Mankato service radius unless otherwise agreed in writing.

1. Service Call & Diagnostic Fee

  • A $95 diagnostic fee is charged for all service calls. This fee covers technician travel, inspection, and diagnosis of the appliance.

  • If you approve the recommended repair, the $95 diagnostic fee is credited toward the final repair cost.

  • If you decline the repair, the diagnostic fee is non‑refundable.

  • Showroom Conversion Discount: If a diagnostic service is completed and you choose to decline the field repair in favor of converting to a purchased replacement unit from our showroom, you will receive 10% off the purchase price of that showroom unit.

2. Estimates & Repair Authorization

  • After diagnosing the issue, we will provide a written or verbal estimate itemizing parts, labor, and any applicable taxes.

  • We will not proceed with repairs without your explicit approval.

  • Repairs exceeding $300 require a 30% deposit before parts are ordered or work begins.

3. Payment Terms

  • Payment is due in full upon completion of the repair or service visit.

  • Accepted payment methods:

    • Credit/debit cards

    • Cash

    • Check

  • For recurring services (e.g., annual dryer vent cleaning), payment is due as specified in the applicable service agreement.

  • Late payments may accrue interest as permitted by Minnesota law and as specified in applicable contracts.

4. Scheduling, Rescheduling & Cancellation

  • We understand schedules change. To avoid a cancellation fee:

    • Cancellations or rescheduling must occur at least 24 hours in advance.

    • Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice incur a $50 fee.

  • To cancel or reschedule, contact us at 507‑200‑0550.

  • For recurring service contracts:

    • Customers may cancel with 30 days’ notice.

    • If the customer moves, cancellation may occur at any time without penalty.

5. Warranty & Callback Policy

5.1 Repair Warranty

  • All repairs performed by Holden's Appliance include a 6‑month warranty on the specific parts and labor used in the repair.

  • The warranty begins on the date of the original repair.

5.2 Warranty Callbacks

  • If a problem arises related to a previous repair during the warranty period:

    • If the issue is determined to be directly related to the original repair, the callback is free of charge.

    • If the issue is unrelated to the original repair, the standard $95 diagnostic fee applies, and any new repair will be quoted separately.

5.3 Exclusions

  • The warranty does not cover:

    • Pre‑existing problems

    • Unrelated appliance failures

    • Issues caused by misuse, improper installation, or environmental factors

    • Cosmetic damage or normal wear and tear

    • Problems discovered during service but not caused by our work

    • Any parts not supplied by Holden's Appliance

6. Customer Responsibilities

  • Customers must:

    • Ensure the appliance is accessible and safe to service.

    • Provide accurate information about appliance symptoms and history.

  • For dryer vent cleaning or maintenance contracts: provide clear, unobstructed access to the dryer and vent ducting.

  • We are not obligated to inspect or notify customers of unrelated appliance issues unless they are part of the specific service requested.

7. No Warranties for Unrelated Issues

  • We do not warranty:

    • Appliance components not repaired or replaced by us

    • Issues arising from unrelated defects, installation errors, electrical issues, or venting problems

    • Damage caused by continued operation of a failing appliance

    • Any condition not directly resulting from our own work

  • All services are provided “as‑is” except where warranties expressly apply.

8. Liability Limitation

  • To the fullest extent permitted under Minnesota law:

    • Our liability is limited to the amount paid for the specific service at issue.

    • We are not responsible for incidental, indirect, or consequential damages, including loss of food, water damage, mold, fire, or property damage unless directly caused by our negligence.

  • Customers contacting us regarding manufacturer warranty matters (including “warranty verification” calls) do so at their own risk, and we make no guarantees regarding warranty coverage determinations.

9. Legal Fees

  • If either party breaches these Terms or a related service agreement and legal action becomes necessary, the breaching party is responsible for reasonable attorney’s fees, collection costs, and court fees.

10. Residential Service Only

  • Holden Appliance Repair provides services exclusively for residential properties unless otherwise stated in writing.

11. Service Area

  • Our standard service area includes locations within a 30‑mile radius of Mankato, Minnesota.

  • Service outside this area may incur additional charges or may be declined.

12. Amendments

  • We may update, revise, or amend these Terms at any time.

  • Changes take effect immediately upon posting at: https://holdensappliance.com

  • Your continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of any updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

  • These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota.

14. Showroom Sales & Inventory Holds

  • All retail showroom orders and refurbished appliance inventory units will not be held without a deposit.

  • To reserve and place a temporary hold on any showroom unit, a 30% deposit is required.

  • All holds are strictly limited to a maximum of 48 hours from the exact time the deposit is received.

  • Deposit Forfeiture: Showroom deposits are completely non-refundable. If final payment is not completed, or if delivery/pickup is not formally arranged within the 48-hour hold window, the reservation expires, the unit is returned to active public inventory, and the 30% deposit is forfeited.

  • All mechanical and component coverages for purchased showroom units are subject to the standard 6-month limits and structural exclusions detailed under Section 5.

15. Appliance Installation & Utility Hookups

  • Standard Electric Installation: Includes unit placement, connection to existing, code-compliant utility outlets using brand-new cords and lines, and a standard operational cycle test.

  • Certified Gas Installation: Includes professional placement, connection to existing gas lines using brand-new professional flex lines and leak-preventing thread sealants, and a comprehensive gas safety leak check.

  • Pre-Existing Utilities: Our technicians are appliance connection specialists, not municipal plumbers. The Company is not liable for any structural leaks, pipe failures, or secondary property damage resulting from pre-existing, aged, rusted, brittle, or non-code-compliant home utility shut-off valves, water lines, or gas valves. If a home shut-off valve is frozen or fails upon operation, the customer must source a licensed plumber to correct the utility line at their own expense.
